WHAT: The Government of Uganda and UNICEF will launch a report titled Emerging Global Challenges: Climate Related Hazards and Urbanization – Protecting Uganda’s Children, to highlight the impact of climate related hazards and urbanization on child welfare.

WHO: Minister of State Minister for Relief and Disaster Preparedness, Hon. Musa Ecweru, will be the Guest of Honour
WHY: Climate change and urbanization represent emerging global challenges that will increasingly and adversely affect the well-being of children in the coming decades, particularly on the poorest and most vulnerable children. As such, this study aims to shed light on the impact these mounting challenges have on child welfare.
The report identifies key policy recommendations to mitigate the impact of climate related hazards and urbanization on children. By taking action now, Uganda can invest in child-centered, socially inclusive national programmes aimed at preparing for and preventing climate related hazards.
