“How I Now Cope With Women”-Versatile Actor, Peters Ijagbemi’s Confession

Peters Ijagbemi is one of the talented actors currently dominating the movie scenes both in the Yoruba and English part of Nollywood. As an undergraduate student of Theater Arts, at the Ahammadu Bello University, he officially joined the industry in 2008, following his appearance in Jeta Amata’s movie titled SERAUNIYA (QUEEN AMINA OF ZAZZAU). Since then, Peters have been putting in more efforts to get to the top. His agility has made him a force to reckon with in the industry. Today, Peters Ijagbemi is one of the top 10 most selling faces as far as online marketing is concerned. Last week, www.yorubamoviegist.com publisher GBOLAHAN ADETAYO had an exclusive interview with him and the versatile actor revealed to us the story of his journey into Nigerian entertainment industry among others. Tell us more about yourself….

I’m Peters Ijagbemi, a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, and after that, i proceeded to the University of Lagos (UNILAG) for my Masters Degree. I am an actor and I have featured in a couple of films, both English and Yoruba films.

Which year did you graduate?
I studied theatre arts in both varsities. First degree graduation was 2009 and the second one was in 2013.

How did you officially join the industry after your studies?
My first camera experience was with Jeta Amata on his project, SERAUNIYA (QUEEN AMINA OF ZAZZAU) which was shot in 2008.

How did you meet him?
He came to do audition in my school ABU, and that’s his style, he likes to work with theatre arts students.

Were you among the winners of the audition?
Yea! That was my first movie experience as i said earlier.

How can you describe the journey so far?
Fantastic! Grace filled.

What are your challenges in the industry?
Because of my passion for the job, I hardly notice any challenge. I see everything as part of the profession.

You started with English movies, how did you now make it into Yoruba Movie industry?

Well, I joined ANTP then in Ibadan, I was in a caucus called a ROLE MODEL under the leadership of Biodun Lawal (Diplomacy) but I left later to focus on English movies.

Why did you leave?
Nothing much, just needed more experience from another angle.

Between the Yoruba and English speaking movie industry, which one would you say pays your bills more?

I choose both.

Let’s now talk about you, who is Peter Ijagbemi?
Peters Ijagbemi is a cool and reserved guy.

Are you married?
I have a very peaceful and loving wife. No moment of regret with her. I got married in 2016.

As a fine boy actor, how do you cope with female fans?
Well, it takes discipline and so far, God’s grace has been sufficient In keeping to my discipline.

Ever since, which movie would you say really gave you the breakthrough?
KING’S SCEPTRE and ELEKO IDERE.

Can you talk more on the movies?
The English one is an Iroko job, while Eleko Idere is a yoruba flick and they both did well in the market.
