Importance and Benefits of Testosterone

Testosterone is transported in the blood in free form (2 to 3%), in the form transported by the SHBG plasma protein (1) (about 80%) and in a weakly bound to a protein, albumin (about 20%) . Testosterone transported by SHBG is blocked. Only free testosterone and bound to albumin is biologically active. It can separate from the carrier (albumin) and thus penetrate the tissues. It then binds to the cellular receptors of the sexual organs and muscles.
