Manchester City have terminated the loan deal of Nigerian midfielder, Chidiebere Chijioke Nwakali, at Norwegian side Sogndal.
The Premier League club has also triggered a clause in his contract, that allows them extend his deal by a year.
Nwakali has been very impressive for Sogndal with about four Man of the Match awards to his name and his performances have not gone unnoticed.
“It wasn’t like he signed a new deal. There’s a clause in his initial deal which gives Man City the option of extending his deal by a year, and that is what they did,” a source told Owngoalnigeria.com reliably.
“He didn’t sign a fresh contract, the contract extension clause in his deal was activated. For now he hasn’t extended his stay with Sogndal, so he is back at Man City.
“A decision on his next loan destination will be taken soon, but reports of a possible move to a team in one of Europe top five league is out of the question at the moment. Man City and his agent are looking at a top team where he is sure of getting games. Preferably a team playing in the Europa League regardless of the country.”
