Rumors of Nokia’s demise have been greatly exaggerated. Despite HMD Global’s announcement of the launch of their brand, HMD (Human Mobile Devices), and their plans to release their own devices under this brand, Nokia is still very much alive and kicking.
According to GSMChina, Nokia is set to release at least 17 new phones in 2024. While the exact names and specifications of these devices remain unknown, they will come with model numbers ranging from TA-1603 to TA-1628. These phones could be either smartphones or basic feature phones.
What’s interesting is that the current official agreement between Nokia and HMD is valid until 2026, ensuring that the iconic Nokia brand will continue to exist for at least the next few years.
HMD Global itself recently stated that it intends to follow a multi-brand strategy, meaning that the company will simultaneously release smartphones under both the HMD and Nokia brands.
There’s a possibility that these new releases in 2024 will be showcased at the MWC 2024 exhibition, which takes place at the end of February.
While some may have prematurely mourned the end of Nokia, it is apparent that the brand is far from disappearing. With the promise of numerous new phones in the coming years, Nokia is cementing its relevance in the ever-competitive mobile phone market.
