Romelu Lukaku laments lack of protection from Manchester United

Inter Milan star Romelu Lukaku has spoken out about perhaps some of the reasons he decided to leave Manchester United after a mixed time at Old Trafford.

The prolific Belgian’s first season saw him score a respectable amount of goals though there was criticism of his goal drought and his lack of telling performances in big matches.

In Lukaku’s second season, his output was less and United’s overall poor form saw him become a scapegoat of sorts.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seemingly preferred Marcus Rashford to the former Everton man and the rumours constantly pointed to an eventual departure.

Both Inter Milan and Juventus fought for his signature but it was the former who beat the latter in the end.

There’s certainly some truth to Lukaku’s words as he was constantly scoring for his national side and so there must’ve been something wrong at club level.

The powerful forward’s agent is also not the first to complain of Manchester United’s lack of protection of their players in the light of public criticism or rumours.

Perhaps the board or some of the staff members involved are not good at matters related to their players and so they’ll have to learn to do better.
